NoMoreRack.com

imageAre you looking for a real deal? Some may think it a nomorerack scam. But hold on. They would be wrong. I am here to give you nomorerack reviews my friend.

First off, when you are presented with the site you will be pleasantly surprise with its clean attractive look. It is appealing to the eye and well organized. it makes shopping a one two three process.

So how does it work. Simply find the deal that they have on a daily basis. Add it to your cart. Then check out. That easy. The first time you will want to create a profile that will make things very easy going forward.

You might ask how can these guys continue to give these great deals. Well it is easy. They specialize in getting manufacturer closeouts, overruns, overstocks, and cancelled orders. These are all a benefit to you. So make sure to give nomorerack a chance. You wont regret it. Your pocket book wont regret it. Most importantly your spouse or better half wont regret it and may actually buy you some brownie points.

TODAY: Stop Internet Censorship

imageimageToday hundreds of websites — including Wikipedia, reddit, BoingBoing, FreePress.net and SavetheInternet.com — have gone dark. They’re protesting the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIPA), bills in the House and Senate that could open the door to widespread Internet censorship.1

Thousands of supporters of the open Internet will soon rally in New York and San Francisco to urge their senators to stand up and oppose this legislation.

Together we’re putting the brakes on the Hollywood-fueled momentum of these bills. But they’re not dead yet — and the Senate is voting on PIPA next week.

Pick up the phone and urge your senators to vote "no" on the Protect IP Act. We’ve created a new site that lists where every senator stands on PIPA and provides a simple script to help you make the call.

Last week the White House said it would not support any legislation that "reduces freedom of expression" or "undermines the dynamic, innovative global Internet."2 Today even Google altered its valuable homepage to black out its logo and include a note protesting SOPA and PIPA. And millions of Internet users have taken action to tell Congress that any bills that compromise our ability to speak freely online must be rejected.

Now it’s time to start lighting up the phones on Capitol Hill before the Senate votes next week.

Call your senators and tell them: Vote "no" on the Protect IP Act.

Let’s bury these bills.

Twinkie, Deconstructed

imageA pop-science journey into the surprising ingredients found in dozens of common processed foods, using the Twinkie label as a guide

Like most Americans, Steve Ettlinger eats processed foods. And, like most consumers, he often reads the ingredients label—without a clue as to what most of it means. So, when his young daughter asked, “Daddy, what’s polysorbate 60?” while eating ice cream bars at the beach on a hot summer day, he was at a loss—and determined to find out.

In this fascinating exploration into the curious world of packaged foods, Twinkie, Deconstructed takes us from phosphate mines in Idaho to corn fields in Iowa, from gypsum mines in Oklahoma to oil fields in China, to demystify some of America’s most common processed food ingredients—where they come from, how they are made, how they are used—and why. Beginning at the source (hint: they’re often more closely linked to rocks and petroleum than any of the four food groups), Ettlinger reveals how each Twinkie ingredient goes through the process of being crushed, baked, fermented, refined, and/or reacted into a totally unrecognizable goo or powder with a strange name—all for the sake of creating a simple snack cake.

An insightful, entertaining exploration of modern food industry, if you’ve ever wondered what you’re eating when you consume foods containing mono and diglycerides or calcium sulfate (the latter, a food-grade equivalent of plaster of Paris), this book is for you.

imageSometimes, I think my dad cannot live without TV. He uses our Montgomery direct tv every day. There is nothing wrong with that obviously, but it just seems like he does not know what to do with himself if the power goes out. It is funny to me how different things are today. It used to be the norm to have candlelit evenings filled with conversation, reading or maybe just silence. I always picture the movie Pride and Prejudice whenever the power goes it. They use candles throughout the movie and the main character, Elizabeth, spends all her free time reading. It is a romantic idea in some respects and just so different from our day-to-day lives now. I really could not imagine my dad just sitting and reading all day long. He just does not have the attention span it seems for that slow, quiet activity. I wonder if I do either, though. It really is so different from how we spend out time now. When my friends and I want something easy to do, we definitely turn on the TV. It is the cheapest and most entertaining activity for some poor college students.

Gold Line

If you want to sell goods from your web site, you may want to look into shopping cart software so you can process your orders.

These days you don’t have to design your cart, you can just choose a web hosting company that has a built in shopping cart solution or use a third party merchant like PayPal.

Built-in Shopping Cart With Hosting

If you choose Powweb to host your website, their hosting plan comes with a shopping cart program that is already built into the hosting plan.  There is very little setup involved and you do not have to learn how to program like you would if you designed a cart yourself.

Not only do you get this free shopping cart with your hosting plan, but they also provide a whopping 5,000 megabytes of web page space and a free "point and click" website builder for only $7 per month.

Click here for details on Powweb Hosting.

Disclosure: I am an affiliate of Powweb. This means I receive a commission if you sign up from this website. My credibility is extremely important to me, therefore I only endorse products I have personally purchased and used. This site is independently owned and the opinions expressed here are my own.

PayPal – Another Free Shopping Cart Solution

One of the most popular free shopping cart software solutions is PayPal.  If you’ve spent any time on the internet, you’ve probably heard or even used their service.

Many eBay users are becoming quite comfortable with this site since it allows sellers to accept credit cards without the hassle of applying for a merchant account.

PayPal processes the customer’s credit card and then deposits the money into your account.  They also take a small percentage of every order.

The advantage of using a company like PayPal is that you don’t need to acquire a business license to accept credit cards. There is also very little setup involved.  You simply tell PayPal your prices, copy and paste some HTML code into your site that will take your customers to the secure "checkout area" so they can pay.

There’s nothing to design or shopping cart software to install.  Everything is hosted on PayPal’s servers.

Somebody bought a HD that was thrown in the trash

Is it safe to dispose of your HD at home?

It is more than acceptable to dispose of your hard drive disk at home. Most people just throw their computers in the trash when they purchase a new one, or they scrap certain parts and leave the rest in the dumpster. When it comes down to it, just throwing away your HD is not enough in today’s world. Dumpster divers, con artists and hackers can use that hard drive and mine data on it that could include bank account, credit card and other information to steal your identity, money and life.

While it is safe to dispose of your HD at home, it is only safe if you take certain steps to ensure that nobody can hack the data off of it and use it to harm you. By taking some time and making sure you go about it right, you will save yourself the headache of having your identity stolen by someone who picked up your HD out of the

How to set up a home FTP server

If you’ve been following the the Lifehacker Home Server Series of articles, you know how to do things like reach your home computer from anywhere in the world thanks to dynamic DNS services. Gina wrote about how to set up a personal home web server, but in my experience the killer home server feature that hasn’t been covered to date is how to set up a personal FTP server at home.

A home FTP server is useful to anyone who wants to save and retrieve files on their computer from anywhere. Ever forget a Word document on your home desktop that you really need at work? Ever download a PDF that explains how to fix something at work and you realize too late you left it at home that morning? If you have a personal FTP server, and you can reach your computer from any place on earth, your files will never be captive on your hard drive at home again.

My home FTP server has saved me on many occasions. Sometimes it’s when I’m on a business trip and need an extra file left at home, most often it’s when I’m in the office and didn’t remember to bring files I worked on at home. By far my best FTP story is from a few years ago, when my wife was giving a reading at a wedding. A couple hours before the ceremony, we realized we left the poem sitting in the tray of my printer at home. We sped to my nearby office, I FTP’d to my desktop, got the Word doc downloaded and printed it there, which we took to the wedding with time to spare. My home FTP server saved the day.

No worries – you will find all your questions answered in this friendly and easy to understand, step-by-step website creation tutorial!

By the time you’re finished reading this tutorial, you’ll be able to have your site up & running in less than an hour.

Before you can create a website you have to make sure you find an appropriate domain name and a reliable web hosting service. You have to be very careful when deciding what services to choose, as this can play a big role on the overall performance of your website (stability, speed, up-time…). We will show you exactly where to find the best deals as we go along.

In case you are not familiar with the terms above, a domain name is the primary address of your website, also known as the URL (www.example.com). It is essential to understand that the domain itself (although an important part of the website) does not represent the actual website. Instead, it only serves as a pointer as to where your site is currently located.

After you’ve successfully set up your domain name and web hosting service (takes about 15 minutes), it all comes down to configuring your website.
